Rainy day it is! June 6 was a holiday in Korea and rain was forecasted a day before but it didn’t bother us at all. Gwangmyeong cave off we go. Fair enough, it was a good choice of place to spend the one day holiday.
There we go to Cheolsan station line 7 and rode bus number 11-2 from exit 2. It was just a 20minute ride from the station. From the entrance you can take the elephant ride for 2,000won per person and the admission ticket for 4,000won. You may choose to walk on a nice weather, but it’s a bit uphill and about 2kilometers from the entrance.
The elephant ride is about 5minutes. And from there, we started our trip to the cave. Guess what? The rain pours but the cave was packed with hundreds of people. Well, not surprising anyway. Rain didn’t bother them at all, too!
Cool temperature, as I expected. I visited one before outside Seoul and I was told to wear jacket while inside, so I did wear too in here. Historically, this place was a mining cave when Japanese occupied Korea and turned into a cultural theme park.
Marvelous work of art and a hit for locals and foreigners. Lots of things to see that includes a wine cellar, with free samples. Led and illuminated lights beautify the entire cave.
We explored the cave for an hour and went out still raining. Paid our ticket for the elephant ride going back to the entrance and head back to Seoul.
General admission: 4,000won Elephant ride: 2,000 (single ride) You have to purchase your ticket again going down that makes it 4,000won back and forth.
Direction: From Exit 2 of Cheolsan Station… walk straight and cross the road. Walk on your left to the bus stop. Take Bus 11-2 and get off at the last stop. Approximately 20minutes. Going back, you can either walk 5minutes to the mainroad or wait for bus 11-2 on the first bus stop located on your right. Only bus 11-2 stops there, just wait. The terminal is just in front of the cave main entrance.
