Siheung Gaetgol Ecological Park

For its description, Gaetgol Ecological Park is a wetland reserve and the only inland beach in Korea along the shores of a river. A home to different kinds of fish and amphibians, an old salt farm and these days popular for Korean drama shooting location. Though an hour and a half away from Seoul by subway, you will not regret spending your day in here just like us.

The swing tower. People line up to the top and the view from there is best.
Taken when we were in the middle of swing tower.

This eco park is huge to move around. There are flower fields, picnic areas and space for children to run around. We visited on the last day of Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving holiday) while pink muhly and cosmos are in full bloom.

…. near the entrance
…. wetland 🙂

We’ve seen the map showing the direction to cherry blossom trees tunnel so most probably this place is best also to visit in spring. There’s also a pool, a big swimming pool actually. Best things are the flower fields eventually, they grew different flowers for each season.

Location: 287 Dongseo-ro, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do. No entrance fee and open year round.

Transportation: From Siheung City Hall station (Seohae line/ light green color), head to exit 1. Get on bus 5 to Gaetgol Eco Park. It is the last stop and goes through the park’s entrance. Takes about 10~15minutes.

… cosmos, pink muhly and the cherry blossom trees tunne in the background.

Gaetgol eco park has also a beautiful spot of sunset. And a tip, bring along water or food of your liking if you plan to explore this park. There’s no available convenience store around. Wear your mask we’ve only removed ours when we took pictures. 🙂
